THE CHITTAGONG HILL-TRACTS SARAIS REGULATION, 1951

A Regulation to apply the Sarais Act, 1867, to the Chittagong Hill-tracts; WHEREAS it is expedient to apply the Sarais Act, 1867, to the Chittagong Hill-tracts; AND WHEREAS by sub-section (2) of section 92 of the Government of India Act, 1935, as adapted by the Pakistan (Provisional Constitution) Order, 1947, the ¹Government is empowered to make regulations for the peace and good Government of any area in his Province which is for the time being an excluded area, or a partially excluded area; NOW, THEREFORE, the ²Government, in exercise of the said powers and all other powers enabling it in that behalf, is pleased to make the following Regulation:-

Short title and commencement

(1) This Regulation may be called THE CHITTAGONG HILL-TRACTS SARAIS REGULATION, 1951.

            (2) It shall come into force on the date of its publication in the Official Gazette.

Section 2. Application of Act XXII of 1867 to the Chittagong Hill- tracts

The Sarais Act, 1867, shall apply to the Chittagong Hill-tracts.
