An Ordinance to give effect to an international agreement for the establishment and operation of an International Finance Corporation and for purposes connected therewith. WHEREAS Articles of Agreement of the International Finance Corporation have, on the eleventh day of April, 1955 been approved by the Executive Directors of the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development, hereinafter referred to as the Bank (and have been subsequently amended by Resolutions of the Board of Governors of the Corporation dated the 1st September, 1961 and the 25th August, 1965), and deposited in the archives of the Bank for signature and acceptance on behalf of Governments; AND WHEREAS it is expedient to provide for the participation of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh in the said Corporation in pursuance of the aforesaid agreement; NOW, THEREFORE, in pursuance of the Proclamations of the 20th August, 1975, and 8th November, 1975, and in exercise of all powers enabling him in that behalf, the President is pleased to make and promulgate the following Ordinance:-
Section 1. Short title and commencement
(1) This Ordinance may be called the International Finance Corporation Ordinance, 1976.
(2) It shall come into force on such date as the Government may, by notification in the official Gazette, appoint.
Section 2. Definitions
In this Ordinance, unless there is anything repugnant in the subject or context,-
Directors of the Bank on the eleventh day of April, 1955 (as amended by Resolutions of the Board of Governors of the Corporation dated the 1st September, 1961, and the 25th August, 1965), providing for the establishment and operation of an international body to be called the International Finance Corporation;
Section 3. Financial Provisions
(1) There shall be paid out of the Consolidated Fund all such sums as may be required for the purpose of making payments on behalf of the Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh under paragraph (a) of section 3 of Article II of the Agreement.
(2) Any sums received by the Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh from the Corporation in pursuance of the Agreement shall be paid into the Consolidated Fund.
Section 4. Bangladesh Bank to be depository for the Corporations
The Bangladesh Bank shall be the depository of the Bangladesh currency holdings or other assets of the Corporation.
Section 5. Certain provision of Agreement to have force of law
Notwithstanding anything to the contrary contained in any other law, the provisions of Article VI of the Agreement set out in the Schedule shall have the force of law in Bangladesh:

Section 6. Act XXVIII of 1956 no part of Bangladesh laws
It is hereby declared that the International Finance Corporation Act, 1956 (XXVIII of 1956), is no part of the laws of Bangladesh.
