An Ordinance to provide for the regulation of the use of official vehicles. WHEREAS it is expedient to provide for the regulation of the use of official vehicles and for matters connected herewith; NOW, THEREFORE, in pursuance of the Proclamation of the 24th March,1982, and in exercise of all powers enabling him in that behalf, the President is pleased to make and regulate the following Ordinance:-
Section 1. Short title
This Ordinance may be called the Official Vehicles (Regulation of Use) Ordinance, 1986.
Section 2. Definitions
In this Ordinance, unless there is anything repugnant in the subject or context,-
Section 3. Power to make rules
(1) The Government may, by notification in the official Gazette, make such rules as appear to it to be necessary or expedient for preventing the misuse of official vehicle by public servants.
(2) Without prejudice to the generality of the foregoing powers, such rules may provide for-
(3) Without prejudice to the provisions of this Ordinance or the rules made thereunder, the contravention of any provision of such rules shall be deemed to be a misconduct punishable under any law relating to the discipline of the public servant concerned.
Section 4. Effect of rules inconsistent with other laws
Any rule made under this Ordinance shall have effect notwithstanding anything inconsistent therewith contained in any other law for the time being in force other than this Ordinance or in any instrument or document.
Section 5. Exemption
The Government may, by general or special order to be notified in the official Gazette, exempt any public servant or class of public servants from the operation of all or any of the provisions of the rules made under this Ordinance.
